Gift Sponsorships
Can’t buy the farm? Never fear! You can support the growth of Urban Patchwork neighborhood farms throughout Austin without breaking the bank.
Your donation to Urban Patchwork is a great, tax-deductible way to commemorate occasions such as birthdays, weddings, holidays, memorials and other special occasions throughout the year.
Even better, each gift sponsorship is a gift that keeps on giving! For example, $30 allows us to buy and support the annual food needs of one chicken. During the same year that chicken will supply up to 200 eggs to a family in Austin! With that same chicken, we can teach more families how to care for and raise backyard chickens for their own food.
From $10 – $10,000, any of the sponsorships you choose from multiply abundantly just like the example above. When you give, food sustainability becomes a reality for people all across the city, now and well into the future.
Read below to learn more about the different gift sponsorships you can purchase to support our community.
***Once you’ve made your donation(s) email us to request that we send you an honor card like the hand-made one pictured here to give as a commemoration gift.
Support your favorite part of a new farm by contributing at one of the levels below. From $10 – $10,000, you contribution makes a lasting difference.
Veggie Plots -
When a new garden plot is tilled and life is restored to the dry, packed ground, veggie harvesting can begin the same year and feed several families. Healthy growing practices support an ever increasing abundance, and community veggie plots provide gathering space for neighbors to meet and grow together.
Flock of Chickens –
Within the first year, a new neighborhood flock of chickens will start to lay enough eggs to feed 25-50 families each week! Eggs are some of the richest and most complete sources of protein. Chickens are a delightful addition to any yard while eating up bothersome bugs and creating rich natural fertilizer for healthy veggies.
Fish Pond –
A new, biologically balanced pond can literally teach dozens of families “how to fish” for years to come. Ponds create habitat for native animals, capture and filter rainwater, cool the earth’s surface, and provide edible fish with an added benefit – they eat mosquitos!
Native Habitat –
We join with the City of Austin to help support our status as a Certified Wildlife Habitat City – the largest in the US, in fact! Birds, bees and butterflies thrive when the environment around us is balanced, supports animals’ nutritional needs and provides safe shelter. Thriving native plants bloom year-round!
Fruit and Nut Grove –
Imagine walking down any street in Austin picking and eating fresh fruits right on the spot, any time of year! Our vision is that Austin is covered, street by street with a woodland orchard ripe for the picking with abundant fruit and nut trees, and berry vines all year.
Support a Farmer –
New urban farmers are trained in disciplines that teach stewardship, organic farming practices, soil and habitat restoration, urban forestry care, aquaponics, animal husbandry, community development and more. Through Urban Patchwork’s programs, that knowledge gets passed on to others for a lifetime.
Barnyard and Storehouse
$5,000
Each neighborhood farm has a central gathering place where it all happens. Young chicks are protected and cared for, food is carefully washed and stored, tools are built and repaired, neighbors gather and share. Think of the central gathering place in your home. The barnyard is that place on the farm! With your shared commitment to place making, a new barnyard can become a community asset enjoyed by many where new ideas come to life and neighbors come together.
Support an Entire Season
$10,000
Your support of an entire season of a new neighborhood farm has endless impact. We are committed to growing food where we live, making that food accessible, and growing our next generations of farmers. It sounds simple, but takes a great deal of commitment. Your shared commitment helps engender social well-being, a vibrant economy, and a healthy environment throughout the community.
